a US city and port in south-eastern Florida on Biscayne Bay. It is a popular place for holidays because of the warm weather and Miami Beach, which is on an island three miles off the coast. The city is also an important financial and industrial centre. It became a town in 1892 and grew rapidly in the 1920s. Many immigrants live in the districts of 'Little Havana' and 'Little Haiti'. More than half of Miami's population are Hispanic. see also the Miami Herald迈阿密(美国佛罗里达州的港口城市,度假胜地)
