the name of a sister and two brothers of an aristocratic English family, all three of whom became writers. Edith Sitwell (1887-1964) was a poet, best known for writing the series of poems Façade (1923). She was also known for her unusual clothes and appearance. She was made a dame in 1954. Her brother Osbert Sitwell (1892-1969) wrote poems and novels, but is best known for his autobiography (= the story of his own life), published in five books.
