a short wide piece of silk, etc. worn by men around the neck, folded inside the collar of a shirt 男人在脖子上穿的短而宽的丝绸等，折叠在衬衫的衣领内 Word Originearly 20th cent.: from the place name Ascot, a town in southern England which holds a famous annual race meeting. This use occurred through association with formal dress at race meetings held there.
